FLEET DEPARTMENT – SUPERVISING PLANNERThe Scottish Ambulance Service Fleet department is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking individual who can work as a team player within a flexible and professional operation.Reporting directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, their principal responsibility will be to plan and facilitate effective internal SAS workshop MOT, vehicle service scheduling and repairs. Planning and arranging external repairs, liaising with sub-contractors and vehicle dealers, regarding warranty repairs and body shop repairs to vehicles, in a challenging Emergency Service Ambulance workshop environment.Support and assist workshop Chargehands in the planning for five remote workshops, ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard, in “Best Value” to the Service.To meet the challenges of this crucial role, candidates should have at least 3 years workshop planning and supervisory experience, in the skills mentioned.A comprehensive understanding of modern vehicle workshop functions is essential, as the post holder will be required to cover for the Fleet Maintenance Manager as and when required.To meet the needs of this post, you will have a good all-round technical knowledge in modern vehicle systems, high level of communication skills, both oral and written, along with a reasonable standard of computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, combined with the ability to work on your own initiative.NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
