Our software is enabling the new machine economy and accelerating digital transformation across industries, including aerospace, defence, automotive, industrial, medical, and telecommunications.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYYou will work closely with account managers on named accounts and strive to become the trusted technical advisor to our customers by understanding their business needs and addressing those needs through Wind River’s products, services and expertise.You must have experience in embedded software engineering, preferably within the defence, commercial aerospace or industrial sectors. You should be capable of understanding aerospace and defence customers’ problems and be able to white-board solutions using product offerings and services.You should also know and have experience of software project development cycles and have a good understanding of project management.Some travel within United Kingdom, and occasionally elsewhere within EMEA and to US will be required.Interface & Collaboration
- Report directly to the EMEA FAE Director for Aerospace & Defence.
- A team of colleagues across Wind River, supporting you to achieve your strategic vision and revenue goals. This will include pre-sales technical experts, professional services, management, post-sales technical support and dedicated sales administration.
- You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to review business.
- EMEA sales teams – collaborating on best practices, sales enablement and tools to effectively execute company goals and revenue targets.
- Marketing teams – to create strategic campaigns, providing feedback on previous campaigns and asset effectiveness.
- Field Account Teams and Inside Account Executives – to build and execute outbound prospecting strategies that are tailored to account / vertical market needs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical point of contact, become the customer’s trusted advisor and the Wind River solutions expert.
- Listen to customer’s needs, analyze their requirements, and architect solutions utilizing Wind River portfolio, and present value proposition.
- Manage the technical needs of accounts utilizing all available resources to effectively address customer product lifecycle needs.
- Develop account plans with the account manager, execute successfully, and increase Wind River market share with each customer.
- Represent Wind River at trade shows and seminars and be willing to give presentations/talks at seminars and conferences.
- Provide consistent market feedback to Wind River.
ABOUT YOUCore Competencies & Demonstrated SuccessThe ideal candidate should have 3+ years of software development or solutions architecting, with experience in the following areas:
- Experience of embedded Linux is essential.
- Experience of real-time operating systems (RTOS) advantageous.
- Programming skills in C or C++ language is essential, and experience or interest in the following is also desirable: Python, Rust, Ada.
- Knowledge of a relevant safety-critical software development standard
(DO-178C / ED-12C, IEC 61058, etc.) is advantageous. * Knowledge of DevOps software development methodologies is desirable, including an understanding of tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, etc.
- Experience with Cloud Native technologies including Kubernetes, containers, microservices, etc., and a good understanding of AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure is desirable.
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An understanding of basic business & sales principles
- Ability to think out of box and create solutions for customer
- A willingness and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
QualificationsThe ideal candidate should have 3+ years of software development or solutions architecting experience in the following areas:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related area.
- Fluency in English required and must have proficient English language skills, enabling business discussion and dialogue to a professional level
- At least 1+ year of technical pre-sales experience.
- UK nationality preferable (due to interaction with UK defence customers)
