Reporting into the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Manager is responsible for supporting in all aspects of planning,execution, and management of camp operations in-line with BHDC’s mission and values.You will play a critical role in supporting operations such as overseeing staff recruitment and training, managing program logistics, and fostering relationships with students, parents, and staff involved in the comprehensive summer camp program. You will contribute to creating a fun and safe environment for all stakeholders, while supporting various administrative and growth initiatives.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Assist the Camp Director with seasonal staff recruitment, which includes conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, and coordinating training sessionsMentor and oversee camp staff while providing feedback and performance supportGreet and assist with camper drop-off and pickup, and offer direct support to staff, campers, and parentsCollaborate on website updates and marketing outreach to promote camp programming and offeringsCollaborate with various stakeholders including the camp team, facilities, food service team, etc. to coordinate logisticsManage program planning and scheduling, and inventory of resources, materials and equipmentCollaborate on OCA Accreditation to uphold camp standards, policies, and proceduresContribute to the end-of-season wrap-up, including clean-up, evaluations, and debriefsPartner with the Camp Director to explore new growth opportunities, potential partnerships, and long-term camp strategiesMaintain and further develop relationships with camp families and staff through ongoing communication outside of the camp season to build a strong camp communityQualifications and Experience:Post-secondary degree or diploma in education, recreation, social work or related field3-5 years experience in a camp leadership/management role or in a setting similar in scope or responsibilityCurrent Standard First Aid/CPR certification; NL certification an assetExperience/skills in various camp program areas (Arts, Sports, STEM, etc.)Training in behaviour management/emotional regulation/camper support a strong assetWorking knowledge of Campbrain and Google suite an assetExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to take charge, problem solve and motivate othersAbility to work independently, as well as with a small and large teamAbility to work with and lead a wide variety of ages and demographic groupsWhy Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
