This is how we shape the media evolution to improve and enrich the media experiences for audiences around the world.What will you doAs the Data Centre Operations Facilities Management (DCOFM) specialist, reporting to the Data Centre Manager within Infrastructure Services & Automation, you will oversee daily operational tasks within the data centre. Your role will include contributions to the following areas.HS and Physical Access Management

  • Conduct H&S site induction training for access to RBM restricted areas, and ensure all records are accurate and updated.
  • Ensure local Electrical Safety standards are adhered to.
  • DC Tools and Equipment are inspected and calibrated where applicable.
  • Carry out PAT testing on new equipment prior to installation and collate and compile project asset information.
  • Coordinate visitor physical access and ID card.
  • Supervise, escort, and assist customers with on premise work.
  • Annual assessment of access to RBM restricted areas – help gather information and prepare for internal and external audit assessments.

Logistics Management

  • Responsible for receiving, securing, and managing all equipment stored and recorded in the BC Goods-In room, and other RBM secure storage areas.
  • Notify the building landlord dispatch and security teams of ingress\egress of IT equipment.
  • Support the DC Manager in developing the process and streamlining.
  • Coordinate removal of WEEE waste & disposal.

Data Centre Operations Management

  • Complete daily DC walk-thru and health check list.
  • Responsible for ensuring DC issues are logged, reported, and followed to resolution.
  • Work with the Change Management and Senior DC team members to review CR RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to develop DC knowledge and exposure.
  • The DC team member will have a view of all M&E infrastructure changes and resolve conflicts where the business is at risk or impact, and therefore, negotiation and good planning acumen is necessary. They will raise and communicate the necessary paperwork for awareness and approval.
  • To be available for call out in the event of site facilities systems failures.

.Capacity Inventory Management

  • Data is a precious commodity, and the DCOFM person will accurately collect and record DC related data. The information will be used to define and drive DC strategies.
  • Undertake physical inventory audit of IT equipment and DC assets across BCA and BCTO.
  • Update capacity reports and improve better ways (automation) updating and forecasting.
  • Work with CMDB team to pull in physical information.
  • Regular recording of power data from UPS, PDUs, and MDUs.
  • Monitor workshop stocks of installation materials and advise when re-ordering is required.

Policies, Standards and Guidelines

  • Provide input into appropriate documents covering the following DC elements, but not limited to, H&S, Physical Access, Service Request, Installation Standards, IT Provisioning Workflows, Incident, Escalation, Problem, Change, Event, and Floor Management.

As and when required – Project Installations

  • Carry out other technical installation activities as requested by the Project Engineer.
  • Decommission hardware and prepare for disposal.
  • Survey requests for connectivity requests provided by RBM.
  • Keep all cabling and hardware inventory records updated and accurate.
  • Ensure installation standards are adhered too and escalate remediation where RBM standards are not met.
  • Prepare equipment racks for, and carry out mechanical installation of equipment, including rack power distribution, according to layout information provided.
  • Accurately and securely connect new cabling to equipment in racks, working from the system drawings.
  • Manufacture finished cables according to wiring schedules supplied when required.
  • Build and wire up custom panels to supplied design and carry out mechanical manufacturing activities as necessary.

Fulltime onsite presence is expected and will be based in the Broadcast Centre, White City, London. Some travel may be required from time-to-time to Salford, Chiswick, Slough, and West London.
Coverage Hours: Mon – Fri: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pmYou Will Bring

  • Coordinate multiple tasks and activities whilst remaining composed.
  • The DC person is customer facing and flexible in their approach to work, always seeking solutions to ensure the best way of working for us, our stakeholders, and customers.
  • A logical and operational mindset is key as the responsible DC person will provide guidance and safety to everyone entering the restricted areas.
  • They take pride in their work, have an eagerness to learn, and establish a continuous service improvements (CSI) outlook.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc…
  • ITIL v3 or higher and applications such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Remedy, etc…

Desired:

  • They will have the foresight to strategically manage capacity in the DC without rework.
  • It is necessary to have a good understanding of Data Centres, how the critical electrical infrastructure path/systems and IT backbone infrastructure is configured.
  • Each location will have its own nuances and opportunities to harmonise DC processes/procedures.
