Main Purpose of Job

To provide occupational instruction in ‘Hospitality Pre-Apprenticeship’ and practical application to incarcerated adults, so participants can gain industry-recognized certifications, enter into entry employment positions in the hospitality sector upon release, and connect to Registered Apprenticeship opportunities.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:rnrnrn Develops course curriculum, lesson plans, and alternative instruction for individualized and independent study for use in classroom and lab instruction of students and revise as necessary to reflect current market changes and trends; selects and requisitions materials and supplies that support program curriculum activities.rnrnrn Develops course curriculum, lesson plans, and alternative instruction for individualized and independent study for use in classroom and lab instruction of students and revise as necessary to reflect current market changes and trends; selects and requisitions materials and supplies that support program curriculum activities.rnrnrnrn rn rn rn rn Maintains attendance records and competency profiles for each student to facilitate measurable achievement of program outcomes in accordance with reporting procedures and Correctional Education requirements. Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly narrative and data-based reports for reporting program activities for submission to USDOL.rn rn rn rn rn Maintains security of all equipment in accordance with DPSCS policies and regulations.rn rn rn rn rn Works as a participating staff member to achieve success for all students and for the improvement of correctional education.rn rn rn

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience planning and conducting employee development and training.rnNotes:rn1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience planning, conducting or coordinating training or staff development activities for the required experience.rn2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in education and training classification or education and training specialty codes in the education and training field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.rn

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in the hospitality field.rn2. Experience instructing adult learners.rn

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.rnLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.rn
