Operational Accountant at Bright Horizons, you will play a key role in helping the child care centers and schools with accounting transactions and analyzing their results.
You will be integral in the month-end close process, responsible for analyzing center operating results, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and provide accounting guidance to center directors. In this role, you will continue to grow your accounting skills and be encouraged to be creative with how to best work through each task you are given.
This Hybrid role requires in-person work at our Newton, MA headquarters.

Responsibilities:

Perform month-end accounting for centers/schools including: Complete cash and other balance sheet reconciliations and research.

Resolve bank reconciling items with applicable centers and treasury.

Review and analyze operating results and explain fluctuations.

Calculate and/or record journal entries for expense and revenue accruals.

Process and send client bills and other related invoice support.

Partner with center staff on a regular basis to ensure tuitions, discounts, receipts, and accounts receivables are accurate in center accounting system.

Review client contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition.

Research variances between center accounting system and general ledger.

Communicate regularly via phone and e-mail with center staff and regional managers to provide accounting expertise and to answer questions and explain accounting practices.
Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, other related field or 2 years experience in an Accounting role in lieu of degree

1-3 years of professional experience in Accounting or other financial department roles
