Job Summary

ArtBomb is accepting applications for two new commissions as part of the 2026 ArtBomb Residency programme: Rethinking Migration (Commission 1) and Arts & Homelessness (Commission 2).

Job Description

Each commission will take the form of a residency, consisting of a research period beginning in February 2026 and working towards a final public sharing of work in June – July 2026.

For Rethinking Migration, we’re looking for a South Yorkshire-based artist or artist collective to work collaboratively with our partner organisations (CAST, Don Catchment Rivers Trust & Changing Lives) and with members of the public – particularly those in transit, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Doncaster. We actively encourage applications from artists who identify as migrant or asylum seeker themselves, or who may have experience of collaborating with people who have lived experience of migration and displacement.

Arts & Homelessness is developed in partnership with Trussell Trust, Changing Lives, Project 6, CAST and Doncaster City Council’s Rough Sleeper Team. We’re seeking applications from artists and creatives based in Doncaster, exploring themes of security, precarity, self-worth and belonging with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The number of hours you will work on the project will be determined together with ArtBomb in February 2026 through an introductory project planning session, including a conversation about your contract. We estimate that the artist will work for approximately 10-12 days in total, equating to an artist fee of £27.08 – £35.54 per hour depending on how many years experience the artist has (as based on Artists’ Union England Rates of Pay) and subject to discussions around the artists’ own fee.

Both commissions have been funded on the basis that we will work with local artists and social service providers, hence the location specificity. If you live outside of South Yorkshire but would like to discuss your eligibility to apply, please do get in touch.

Application deadline for both commissions: Sunday 4 January 2026, 5pm

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions about the application process.
