What if the power and resources to create good homes, streets, and neighbourhoods were in the hands of the community?
WeCanMake is looking for an experienced and passionate Stewardship Lead to help us explore and put into practice promising responses to this question. The Stewardship Lead will co-design, prototype, and apply ideas, practices, and processes at the intersection of design, community participation, and long-term stewardship relating to our housing and retrofit work. This includes developing collective and cooperative approaches to housing stewardship and management, community land trust membership, and participatory infrastructures at street and neighbourhood level. The ideal candidate will be curious about the big ideas behind just and regenerative futures, and confident in translating these ideas into practical action in everyday neighbourhood settings.
They willhave a passion for working in community contexts; designing in practice (not just theory); be comfortable engaging and working collaboratively with diverse community members and public sector and private stakeholders and partners; and love to mix desk-top design and research with participatory co-design and hands-on making.
