Job Summary
Job Description
WaterBear is a specialist higher education college of music with campuses in Brighton and Sheffield. We put creativity, individuality and real music industry experience at the heart of what we do.
We’re looking for a freelance TikTok Content Creator to bring our students, music community and campus culture to life through engaging, original short-form video.
Working with our Social Media Coordinator and wider marketing team, you’ll turn student life, gigs, interviews, behind-the-scenes moments and music culture into content that feels at home on TikTok. We want bold, funny and authentic videos, not polished corporate content.
You’ll manage the creative process, spotting trends, planning, filming, sourcing existing footage, editing, adding captions, writing copy and scheduling posts. You’ll keep on top of trends and emerging formats, respond quickly when something relevant takes off, and experiment with ways to grow our audience and community.
The channel features a high-volume mix of trend-led videos, student and band highlights, alongside content about WaterBear’s courses and community. You’ll help plan content around live events, campus life and key dates in the student recruitment calendar, and identify suitable videos for our paid social campaigns.
This is a freelance opportunity at £15 per hour for 14 hours per week, with flexibility around how those hours are arranged by agreement. You must be based in Brighton or Sheffield, be available to film locally and be able to travel to our other campus occasionally.
We’re open to creators from different backgrounds and career stages. A degree isn’t required, but you should already have experience making short-form content and be confident working independently. This is a professional freelance opportunity, not a student placement.
Job Requirements
We’re looking for someone who:
– Has proven experience creating TikTok content, whether for their own channels, clients or employers.
– Understands TikTok trends, humour, creator culture and what makes people stop scrolling.
– Can develop strong hooks and tell engaging stories in short-form video.
– Can film and edit confidently, including beat-led edits, captions and trending sounds, using CapCut or similar tools.
– Is comfortable appearing on camera or directing others.
– Brings original ideas, experiments and adapts quickly to new trends.
– Has a genuine passion for music and/or education.
– Can work independently and collaborate with students, artists and colleagues.
– Ideally has experience using Canva or other creative tools.
– Is based in Brighton, Sheffield or surrounding areas, and can travel between both campuses when needed.
