Course Description:

Study of ministerial and pedagogical documents that support the teaching and learning of arts education at the elementary level. Implementation of creative processes and critical analysis in drama, visual arts, dance, and music. Planning of learning situations and units that respect the psychomotor, cognitive, emotional, and social development of the student. Adaptation of teaching and learning strategies to ensure pedagogical differentiation and interdisciplinarity. Integration of technology in the teaching of the arts at various educational levels. Development of teaching and assessment strategies. Valuing cultural diversity and considering the specific needs of students when designing learning situations. Framing Indigenous art, its contexts, and creative processes.

A Master’s degree in Education is required; preference will be given to candidates with a Doctorate in Education; –

At least one of the following: Recent full-time teaching experience in a school or administrative experience within a school board, including two years of implementing the Ontario Curriculum with a French specialist qualification, OR a current, peer-reviewed research record in French, OR a recent synthesis examination (Ph.D.) in French; –

Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario context regarding French language education;

Proven ability to apply the Professional Standards and the Code of Ethics of the Ontario College of Teachers;

The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those listed above.

The course will be delivered in a hybrid, distance-learning format, alternating between synchronous and asynchronous sessions.
