The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to support the development of our proposed undergraduate program in Data Science. The anticipated start date of the position is 1 July 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.
The successful applicant should or will have a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related area. They should have an established record of, or potential to develop, an independent program of research with global impact funded by Canadian and international agencies (e.g. NSERC) leading to international recognition. Applicants must have the inspiration and ability to supervise undergraduate research projects and graduate students.
It is expected that the candidate will develop and offer undergraduate courses related to data science and to broadly contribute to the teaching mandate of the department at the undergraduate level including courses in both the Mathematical Sciences major and service courses. It is expected that a successful candidate would have a teaching load equivalent to three courses per year.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is housed in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Guelph. We are an active and dynamic group of researchers and educators working in a wide range of fields in mathematics and statistics.
