Assistant Professor in Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph invites applications from Indigenous and/or Black scholars for a Tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level. We welcome qualified applicants working in any area of psychology. The anticipated start date for this appointment is July 1, 2025 (or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025).

Responsibilities
• Teaching: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology and provide undergraduate and graduate level supervision and mentorship.
• Research and Scholarship: The successful candidate is expected to establish, maintain, and fund an innovative and productive research program in psychology that will enhance the research strengths of the department.
• Service: We seek a candidate committed to contributing to the department, the university, and the broader community. Responsibilities may include academic advising, participation in student and departmental, college, or University committees, and engagement in community outreach and professional service activities.

Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD in Psychology though candidates who are ABD or with a PhD in an associated discipline will be considered.

This tenure-track faculty position is part of the University of Guelph’s Black and Indigenous Hiring Initiative (https://vpacademic.uoguelph.ca/black-and-indigenous-hiring-initiative). Launched in June 2022, the Black and Indigenous Hiring Initiative (BIHI) calls for hiring fifteen or more Black and Indigenous faculty and four or more Black and Indigenous professional staff across the University of Guelph during the next three years. The Department of Psychology offers BA degrees in Psychology and contributes to a collaborative BSc in Neuroscience. We offer MA, MSc, and PhD degrees in Psychology from our four areas: Applied Social Psychology, Child Clinical and Adolescent Psychology, Industrial-Organizational, and Neuroscience and Applied Cognitive Science.
