The Audit Specialist (Climate Risk) will (i) conduct independent and objective audits and advisory services in the areas of treasury, risk management, and operations including both sovereign and non-sovereign operations; (ii) formulate audit strategies, approaches, and recommendations to improve efficiency, effectiveness and internal controls; (iii) monitor the implementation of management actions; and (iv) work with broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Auditor General and will supervise technical local staff.

You will:

• Deliver medium to large complex audit and advisory engagements, with emphasis on the assessment of climate-related risks, including both physical and transition risks, in treasury, sovereign and nonsovereign operations processes as well as risk management processes, and assumes responsibility and accountability for achieving engagement objectives.
• Formulate risk-based audit plans, conduct interviews, obtain and analyzes all relevant data and information.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability of processes.
• Formulate findings and recommendations and follow through on resulting recommendations.
• Maintain high quality working papers and audit reports that are thorough, accurate, and timely.
• Assess compliance with established rules and regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Monitor, follows-up and report on the status of implementation of recommendations resulting from audits.
• Provide advisory services to help improve efficiency, effectiveness, and internal controls of business processes of clients.
• Contribute to formulating possible solutions to root causes of problems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in OAG and implementing best practices.
• Share knowledge and participate in interdepartmental task forces/working groups as assigned.
• Supervise the performance of reporting staff, providing clear direction and regular monitoring and feedback on performance.
• Ensure the on-going learning and development of reporting staff.

Qualifications:

You will need:

• A University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Climate Science, International Development or related fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
• Professional qualification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Financial Risk Manager (FRM); Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR); or Certified Public Accountant (CPA); or equivalent is preferred.
• At least 8 years of professional experience and technical competence in auditing, accounting, finance, banking, or development field.
• Familiarity with emerging practices associated with climate risks, including physical and transition risks, and evolving international requirements from financial institutions on managing and disclosing climate risks. Multilateral development bank audit experience is preferred.
• Experience in auditing risk management, treasury, and climate risk vulnerability assessment of sovereign and nonsovereign operations is preferred.
• Superior analytical skills, sound judgment, fairness, and discretion.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• International experience working in several countries.
