The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $63,000.00 to $81,000.00.
Internal minimum $66,628.80.
This position is exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
*****Applicants must currently reside in Arizona or be willing to relocate to Arizona by the time of hire. *****
Standard Judicial Branch business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. This position may offer a hybrid (telework, remote) schedule, depending on the needs of the Judicial Branch.
The Judicial Branch is unable to provide visa sponsorship (i.e. H-1B visa etc.).
The Business Intelligence Analyst delivers high-quality, moderate to complex reporting, data and analytics to identify emerging data trends, improve data quality, support strategic initiatives, and make recommendations for efficiency and effectiveness within the Judicial Branch.
The Data Integrity & Analytics Department objectively and creatively communicates data analytics In a straightforward manner to all audiences, supports policy and decision making by assessing caseflow processing, fairness and access to justice for the public, and other data driven needs; and helps the Judicial Branch enhance services, promote trust, and govern its own affairs. Data Integrity & Analytics uses resourcefulness and data analytic knowledge to measure and help improve the process, results, efficiency, quality, effectiveness, program outcomes, policy outcomes and outputs of the Judicial Branch every day.

Position Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience performing complex data analysis such as ANOVA, regression analysis, and multilevel modeling, which includes statistical and analytical research with large and complex datasets compiled by various stakeholders
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
- Postgraduate degrees or professional level related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year for year basis.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license at time of hire
Our Preferred Candidate has:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field
- Experience developing dashboards for internal and external consumption; developing algorithms to improve efficiency or equitability, preferably within a court or justice system environment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Research methods and advanced statistical analysis
Skill in:
- Extracting data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems
- Working with statistical data analytics and statistical programming software such as SQL, SAS, SPSS, R Studio and/or Python.
- Data visualization or dashboard software such as Power BI or Tableau
- Standardizing data collection by developing methods for database design and validation reports
- Managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product
- Self-driven and independent learning related to work assignments
- Utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including Pivot Tables, data visualization, advanced formulas).
Ability to:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Unit’s role in supporting the Court’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Think logically, strategically, and formulate conclusions based on proven facts and complex data
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and computer skills
- Maintain high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions
- Analyze and interpret data
- Accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports
- Articulate verbally and in writing findings of research
- Evaluate data trends and recommend solutions in business practices
- Work on large projects with many data sets against deadlines
- Ensure skill set remains current by reviewing literature on research methodology and attending related training and conferences
Essential Job Tasks

- Create data visualizations to increase the accessibility of data and other information to leadership and stakeholders of the Judicial Branch.
- Develop statistical models to predict workload by regional court location, case type, and many other variables available from internal and external data sources
- Develop statistical models to identify areas for case processing improvement, including making recommendations about business workflow, work allocation, and court customer guidance
- Generate and compile a variety of technical, statistical, or narrative reports based on research, using highly proficient technical writing skills, and ensuring optimal quality, integrity, and validity
- Perform complex statistical and analytical research such as random sampling, correlation, and regression analysis
- Gather and analyze data to determine trends, correlations, and forecasting utilizing various software applications
- Recommend business practice changes based on results of evaluation and analysis
- Prepare and deliver presentations to executive leaders, management, and various stakeholders
- Maintain files and history of statistics, analysis, trends, graphs, charts, or other information related to the Unit’s work
- May lead more complex projects and provide guidance, training, and/or direct the work of less experienced employees and/or interns
- Manages team projects carried out on behalf of the Department and Branch, including strategic planning, developing deadlines for deliverables, and providing guidance and feedback to teammates.
- Provides mentorship, professional development, and training to teammates
- Provides input on performance evaluations.
Working Conditions:
Requires occasional use of a personal vehicle to travel to and from various court locations and events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system’s requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
