Position Description 

This is a part time Hotel Management instructor at the Ocean Campus.

Job Duties1. Instruct in one or more of the following areas:

  • Hospitality Law
  • Hotel Administration
  • Hospitality Financial Reporting
  • Introduction to Hospitality

2. Perform duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress including, but not limited to, grading, required record keeping, etc.

3. May participate in departmental functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum development, student learning outcomes (SLO’s) development and assessment, and others.

4. Teach day or evening classes where required.

5. Provide quality instruction by engaging in assessment of approved SLO’s, evaluation of results achieved, and planning and implementing new instructional strategies to improve results on an ongoing basis.

6. Performing departmental duties suh as program and curriculum development, evaluation and revision.

7. Participating on department and campus committees, fundraisers on/off site events, outreach and recruitment.

8. Maintaining necessary attendance, scholastic, assessment records, and submitting them according to required to required deadlines.

9. Pursuing professional growth activities to remain current in discipline and teaching methodology.

10. Attending regularly scheduled in-service and discipline specific professional development activities.

11. Collaborating with colleagues, department, administers to provide best practice for student success.

12. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

13. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy

14. Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum QualificationsCity College of San Francisco Minimum Requirements:

Hospitality Law:

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

2. Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment.

Hotel Administration/Hospitality Financial Reporting/Introduction to Hospitality:

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

2. Earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment.

OR

Earned Associated Degree from an accredited institution, plus six years of professional experience.

OR

Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Foods, Food Service and Related Technologies (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable QualificationsHospitality Law:

1. Earned JD or Master’s Degree in Business and 6 years of Hospitality Industry Experience.

2. Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

3. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

4. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.

Hotel Administration/Hospitality Financial Reporting/Introduction to Hospitality

1. Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Business Administration, plus 2 years as General Manager, Front Office, Housekeeping, Human Resource Manager or Hotel Controller and successful teaching experience.

2. Earned Associate Degree, plus 6 years of any of the above positions and successful teaching experience.

3. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

4. .Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
