Job Summary
The function of the Career Services Office is to facilitate the job search process for our students and recent graduates/alumni. While obtaining employment is an individual and personal endeavor, the Career Services Coordinator provides support to the Director and CSO staff, guidance, information and skills training, and acts a liaison between job-seeking students and employers who wish to hire.
Job Responsibilities
Departmental Internal Operations & Support (45%)
Department Programming:
Assists as needed with all CSO programming including fall & spring on-campus interview programs. Assist with on-site coordination, catering, marketing, and follow-up evaluations. Design and create marketing advertisements and monitor employer and student RSVP’s.
Presents career services programs and assists with updating career services handbooks and marketing materials.
Symplicity Database Management:
Responsible for the administration of the Career Services Management (CSM) database including data input, approval/denial of job postings & employer registrations, trouble-shooting system issues and training and implementation of system improvements.
Graduate Surveys:
Assists the Director as needed with all student employment data collection and reporting. Collects and enters permanent employment data at graduation and 10-months post-graduation for current and previous years’ graduating classes with supervisory oversight from Director of Career Services. Conducts outreach, maintains the accuracy of spreadsheet, and uploads surveys and supportive materials in a timely manner.
Law Career Services Office Administration (40%)
Displays superior customer service in addressing all inquiries of the Career Services Office. Responsible for operating the reception area and greeting all students and visitors. Handles all incoming phone calls and written correspondence as related to the CSO. Collects and distributes mail and timely responds to law student and employer requests for information. Maintains professional appearance of all common areas. Maintains, updates, and ensures coordination between the CSO master calendar and Law Center calendar. Request and confirm room reservations. Responsible for assisting students, alumni and recruiters in all matters related to the CSO and its procedures. Assist with coordination of student programming and other Law Center activities (must be available to assist with after-hours and weekend events). Assists the Director, Associate, and Assistant Directors with employment-related research.
Departmental External Relations (10%)
Responds to and address visitor and employer requests in a timely and professional manner. Manages and administers LSU Law Center’s reciprocity program which involves receiving, reviewing, approving, or denying requests for such services. Drafts all reciprocity correspondence and maintains communications with law schools; prepares requests for reciprocity to other schools for LSU law students and graduates. Provides timely submissions to the Intercollegiate Job Bank and distribution of password updates to enhance student and alumni job prospects. Attends and participates in local recruitment meetings, conferences, trainings, and Law Center sponsored job fairs as deemed necessary by the Director of Career Services.
Supply Management & Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Monitor and maintain inventory & orders supplies, process catering orders for food and coffee for department programming and internal use. Maintain the organization and appearance of supplies and supply areas.

Bachelor’s degree

Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in office management, scheduling and/or student services.
