Your Key Responsibilities

As a Construction Site Inspector, you will be responsible for assisting project managers, project engineers and construction administrators in the following areas:

  • Providing on-site resident inspection services for the construction of new linear infrastructure, road construction and bridge work.

  • Assists with monitoring and calculation of production rates

  • Assists with monitoring compliance with and administering terms of operational constraints of the contract

  • Checks and inspects construction activities, operations, and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications

  • Conducts site surveys, confirms scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment, and materials, and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed

  • Liaise / Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed under the terms of reference, specifications, or agreement

  • Witnessing and documenting performance verification tests and monitoring contractor commissioning activities.

  • Obtain video / photographic records as required

  • Preparing construction progress reports.

  • Assist with issuance of field instructions, change orders and other construction administrative documentation.

  • Review of contractor pricing associated with change orders.

  • Attend site meetings and reconnaissance on site

  • Chairing construction meetings and preparing minutes.

  • Review of red line mark-up drawings provided by the contractor.

  • Assist with preparation and review of project record drawings.

  • Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing resident inspection services for roadway and municipal construction projects in Atlantic Canada.

  • Able to work on weekends, nights, shift work, additional hours as required

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required as is an ability to work independently within the bounds of direction provided by the project manager.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Proficiency with MS Office

  • Previous office administration experience working in a construction office setting an asset

  • A valid New Brunswick driver’s license and your own vehicle are required for this position.

  • Travel to remote construction sites will be required. There may also be opportunities for travel within Atlantic Canada.

  • Position will be full-time employment and is based in one of our New Brunswick office locations (Fredericton, NB, Moncton, NB).

Education and Experience

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in engineering/construction projects

  • Either registration as a Technician or Technologist or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with APEGNB
