The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.JOB PURPOSEThe Director, Logistics and Distribution is responsible for cost and delivery optimization with regards to the movement of materials and product. This includes inbound logistics as well as product distribution and fulfillment and all associated functions including Customs and Trade Compliance, Logistics, Reverse Logistics, Warehousing, and Fulfillment Services across the locations where Mustang Survival operates. The Director, Logistics, and Distribution works to streamline operations by leading a team of salary and hourly employees to reduce costs, and improve service levels by leveraging technology, developing effective logistics strategies. By doing so, they directly contribute to the operational efficiency of the business and help ensure the company can meet its sales and customer service objectives. This role will establish and manage a Fulfillment Services team that is also responsible for product repairs and embellishment. This director level role is also responsible for Strategic planning and execution for the Logistics and Distribution function.STRUCTUREThe Director, Logistics and Distribution reports to VP, Global Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. This position oversees the direct reports including Customers and Trade Compliance Specialist, Logistics Specialist, Fulfillment Coordinators, Fulfillment Services, and Warehouse leaders in Burnaby Canada, Spencer WV, and Jacksonville FL.RESPONSIBILITIESOversight of the West Virginia Distribution Center, Burnaby Warehouse (covering shipping, receiving, and warehouse management), and Jacksonville Warehouse.Ensure associated policies and processes are defined and complied with throughout each locationReview and prepare manpower and space requirements to align with business needs. This also includes responsibility over inbound logistics and warehouse balancing for materials and product.Provide functional and process support for UK/Euro warehouse and distribution resources.Future potential for 3PL management and warehouse inventory balancing.Responsible for relationships with freight providers and forwardersResponsible for planning and optimizing inbound logistics and maintaining data associated with inbound delivery schedules and costs.Responsible for ensuring we maintain customs and trade compliance throughout our inbound and outbound operation.Implement and oversee processes to manage compliance risk, while distributing materials and product efficiently and cost effectively.Responsible for optimizing warehouse process efficiency and proactive cost management of warehouse.Execution of repairs in Burnaby and West Virginia, including 3rd party contract repairs, but excluding management of third-party repair facilities.Overall coordination of embellishment and customization services.Coordination of customer value added services as required by certain key customersManagement of ERP logic related to warehouse, inventory, allocation, order fulfillment, and shipping/delivery information.Manage and oversee the budget for all warehousing activity including workforce and resource planning in Burnaby, Spencer, and Jacksonville.Maintain metrics and analyzing data to assess performance and implement improvementsCollaborate with cross-functional initiatives within the organization to continuously improve and streamline fulfillment operations.Develop strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, efficiency of logistics and distribution operations, aligning these with broader corporate objectives.Strong understanding of industry trends and technology, to act as the expert in strategic planning.The ability to work effectively with other departments such as sales, marketing, finance, and IT to align logistics and fulfillment operations with broader business objectives.Demonstrate ability to use strategic influence to gain buy-in for logistics initiatives, drive alignment on goals, and ensure the successful execution of cross-functional projects.Foster strong partnerships across departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication, leading to more integrated and efficient operations.Demonstrate ability to building and nurturing a high-performing team to ensure sustainable long-term success in logistics and fulfillment. This includes not only hiring the right talent but also investing in ongoing development and team cohesion.Provide guidance and support to team members through coaching and mentorship to enhance their performance and career development.Lead, coach, and mentor the team across various locations.Understand the potential risks in logistics, such as supply chain disruptions, natural disasters, or geopolitical issues, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.QualificationsREQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTSLeadership and Management: Effective people management and cross functional collaboration, as evidenced by low turnover rates, high team morale, and positive feedback from direct reports and cross functional team members. Success could also include demonstrated ability to effectively train new staff, align team efforts with company goals, and manage conflict effectively.Logistics and Distribution Best Practices and Regulatory Requirements: Must have an understanding of best practices in customs and trade compliance, warehousing, shipping, and distribution. Must also understand all job-relevant and applicable regulatory requirements for the jurisdictions this role oversees.Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to learn new processes quickly, adapt to changes, and solve operational problems effectively.Strategic Planning: Proven ability to envision and plan for the future of logistics and distribution within the company, aligning it with broader corporate goals.
