POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Director of Information Technology will oversee the development, implementation and use of technology throughout the organization. Areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, including determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions and leading organizational efforts to improve the effective use of technology. Performs all job duties in an efficient, positive, and helpful manner. Participates in and promotes Starfish safety programs.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university. A degree may be substituted for minimum fifteen (15) years related experience. 

  • Minimum of seven (7) or more years of information technology management with significant depth in infrastructure management, Network Administration with an emphasis in various LAN/WAN environments preferred.

  • Significant experience with Windows desktop operating systems, Server Administration or Active Directory preferred.

  • Experience with VMWare Servers, tools and operations.

  • Experience with obtaining and maintaining PCI compliance certification.

  • Experience with telecommunication vendors, hardware and other related equipment.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide overall IT governance for the agency

  • Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan

  • Develop and manage compliance with a robust IT risk management plan

  • Responsible for researching and planning for implementation of the most recent technologies in the industry.

  • Plan, implement and monitor changes in infrastructure configurations

  • Oversee system monitoring for security purposes  

  • Assist the database team when required. This would include (but not limited to), system configuration, system optimization, database optimization, redundancy, security or backup implementation.

  • Lead team to enhance current technologies to improve client services

  • Communicate regularly with executive leadership team on information technology

  • Manage IT staff, which includes hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, guidance and discipline

  • Develop best practices and written documentation for all IT procedures and policies

  • Manage the financial aspect of IT development

  • Ensure that capacity planning and hardware/service provisioning are able to meet the growth and changing needs of the organization.

  • Skillfully manages human resource activities including planning, hiring, on-boarding and training for reporting staff

  • Work collaboratively with program/support departments to define overall operational policy and procedures.  Navigate across internal systems to ensure smooth operations

  • Identifies trends and root causes of problems and implements necessary remediation and process improvement

  • Develops strong relationships and provides leadership to vendors and suppliers to ensure clear communication of technology strategies and standards with an effective and proven history of delivering services

  • Responsible for all IT purchases, including creating purchase orders and check requisitions.

  • Must be available 24/7

  • Attend departmental and agency meetings and trainings as required

  • Cooperates in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstance

  • Perform other related duties as requested by immediate supervisor or other management staff.

  • Must have strong and efficient organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and manage IT operations.  

  • Should have a strong background in various computer-related equipment and be able to become familiar with new equipment as the need arises. 

  • Should have a background in utilizing computer hardware and/or software for the implementation of security systems within the organization (with those being either active or passive systems). 

  • Needs to have experience setting up monitoring systems (either automated or manual) for all phases of IT and/or security. 

  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of standardized processes, particularly in the areas of data center operations and help desk. 

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of staff and clients. 

  • Displays excellent project management capabilities. 

  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and current automobile insurance. 

  • Ability to work with all people regardless of race, gender, religion, age or ethnic or cultural background. 

     

    LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation.
