Education Officer – Harrogate & Skipton, Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 9-month maternity cover Education Officer post within the Culture and Archives team at North Yorkshire Council, which will be based across our cultural venues.

The Education Officer post is core to our cultural venues team, working with museum collections across Skipton and Harrogate to increase young peoples’ engagement with arts, culture and heritage. Cultural venues covered will include Skipton Town Hall (including Craven Museum) in Skipton, the Mercer Art Gallery and Royal Pump Room in Harrogate, along with the Courthouse Museum at Knaresborough Castle.

The post holder will develop formal and informal education opportunities related to museum collections and cultural venues. This includes school resources and workshops, Arts Award and Young Archaeologist’s Club. A key part of the role is to think creatively and have imagination with regard to how we provide excellent education opportunities and contribute to income generation for the service. They will also work closely with the Assistant Museum Curators to develop object-based learning.
