Under the direct supervision of the Executive Board Programme Analyst, the incumbent is expected to assist in communications work and logistical and administrative arrangements in regard to the Executive Board. In particular, the incumbent will help finalize and regularly update a global note on the evolution of “agreed” and “non-agreed” language on gender equality in intergovernmental negotiations.
Description of Responsibilities :
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Board Programme Analyst, the incumbent is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Support the Analyst and the team in the preparation of briefing notes, talking points and other documentation;
- Draft generic correspondence and provide administrative support to the Secretary of the Executive Board;
- Assist in communications work for the Executive Board Secretariat, including maintaining and updating the EB website, managing the Executive Board X account, monitoring the generic e-mail inbox, and updating e-mail distribution lists;
- Provide other logistical and administrative support to the Executive Board Secretariat and to official sessions, informal briefings, and related events;
- Perform other tasks as needed.
- The intern will learn to work in a fast-paced environment and get first-hand experience in supporting intergovernmental processes.
Qualifications Education:
- University studies in one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Political Science, International Relations, or Philosophy or other relevant subjects is required.
Meet one of the following:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Language:
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
- Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
