Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one (1) 3-year limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2025.
The Faculty of Law has expanded its cohort and to support this expansion, we are seeking applications from outstanding and emerging scholars with a J.D./LL.B. and a graduate degree in law or a cognate discipline. We seek candidates able to teach our mandatory courses and are especially interested in candidates with expertise in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Estates, Real Estate Law and Aboriginal Law. We strongly encourage applications from candidates whose teaching interests and expertise align with the faculty’s three mandate areas of Indigenous and Aboriginal Law, Natural Resources and Environmental Law, and Sole/Small Town Practice and with the Integrated Practice Curriculum. We especially seek candidates with expertise and experience in land-based, experiential, and/or alternative modes of delivery. Candidates must be eligible for licensing with any Canadian Law Society.
The Bora Laskin Faculty of Law is known for its innovative curriculum. At our faculty, practice-based skills learning is integrated into the curriculum of substantive courses. The Law Society of Ontario approved the Integrated Practice Curriculum in 2013, positioning the law school to serve as a leader and model in providing legal practice skills as part of the J.D. Program.
