Amazon seeks a highly motivated finance professional to play a lead role in Operations Finance supporting the Operations Engineering Services team.
Ops Engineering Services supports the design, construction, and launch of facilities across the Amazon Operations Network. This role will consistently engage with business and finance leaders to provide visibility and reduce Operations’ infrastructure costs. Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment that’s more start-up than big company. Given the highly visible nature of this role, excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical. The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: they are a self-starter, have a strong sense of ownership, collaborate with and influence business partners, support thoughtful decision-making in a rapidly-evolving and ambiguous environment, and think long-term.
Key job responsibilities
Oversee financial reporting for a critical Operations team. Understand input drivers and validate integrity of the reporting to influence strategic decision-making and planning
Lead long- and short-term financial planning, including financial reviews with senior business partners
Develop partnerships across Operations and use data to influence leadership decision-making
Manage competing priorities to complete both ad-hoc and strategic projects
Communicate financial insights (both written and verbal) in a clear and concise manner. Adapt communication based on intended audience to clearly articulate complex financial considerations.
Seek opportunities to resolve defects proactively
Improve, scale, and simplify finance tools across teams and organizations
Promote a positive and collaborative culture.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, or CPA
Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
