Do you want to play a role in transforming the way people shop at Amazon? We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Finance Manager to partner with our Personalization org. Come help us build the future of personalized shopping at Amazon!

In this role, you will provide strategic guidance and thought leadership for short and long-range planning. You will also offer analytical decision support to evaluate project impact and prioritization working closely with multiple senior leaders on initiatives that directly affect the customer experience. To be successful, you need to be a self-starter with business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail and a track record of influencing business partners with data-driven decision making.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze and manage quantitative data to create meaningful analyses and build financial models that drive business decisions.

  • Create, improve, and maintain reports for key financial and operational metrics.

  • Partner with business and finance counterparts to establish and streamline reporting of advertising and cost-to-serve metrics relevant to Personalization.

  • Analyze monthly financial and business metrics, report on key trends vs. plan, peel back layers to understand underlying drivers of financial performance.

  • Perform month-end close related activities.

  • Support forecasting efforts of operating expenses, headcount, and resource allocation.

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc operating expense reports for the Personalization Org.

  • Partner with business teams to enable success in the annual Goals process.

  • Analyze, review and approve purchase orders to ensure they are within budget and aligned with best practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes, including implementation of best practices.

About the team

Shopping Finance is part of the Stores Tech Finance organization. This high-performing group shapes Amazon’s investments in technology and innovation, aiming to drive long-term profitable growth and free cash flow. They act as trusted financial advisors across the Amazon Stores, Digital, and Other businesses (SDO).

Shopping finance provides strategic support for decision-making and prioritization for the Shopping org. which powers core Amazon customer experiences including Homepage, Detail Page, Search, Rufus, and Personalization. We collaborate across organizations, celebrate and leverage diverse perspectives, and support our peers to excel both at work and away from work.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
