Do you want to play a key role in shaping Amazon’s shopping experience at the highest levels? We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Finance Manager to oversee variable HC and OpEx for the Shopping organization. In this role, you will provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to senior leadership across multiple high-visibility initiatives including Search, Rufus, and Community Moderation. You will manage a budget spanning in-house and third-party resources, supporting critical programs that power Amazon’s shopping experience. To be successful, you need to be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, has strong business modeling skills, and can influence data-driven decisions at the senior leadership level.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Lead strategic financial planning and analysis for 2,180 employees across three VPs

  2. Drive cost optimization initiatives while supporting growth of new GenAI products

  3. Analyze and approve purchase orders and headcount, ensuring alignment with best practices

  4. Develop and maintain complex forecasting models to support resource allocation decisions

  5. Partner with senior leadership to evaluate trade-offs between automation, insourcing, and strategic hiring

  6. Establish scalable mechanisms for financial reporting and controls across the organization

  7. Lead monthly reviews with Directors and VPs to evaluate costs and identify optimization opportunities

  8. Create high-quality analyses and commentary for senior finance leadership to understand year-over-year trends and variance to plan

  9. Drive operational excellence in variable cost reporting through process improvement and automation

  10. Partner with BIE teams to develop standardized reporting solutions

About the team

Shopping Finance is part of the Stores Tech Finance organization. This high-performing group shapes Amazon’s investments in technology and innovation, aiming to drive long-term profitable growth and free cash flow. They act as trusted financial advisors across the Amazon Stores, Digital, and Other businesses (SDO).

Shopping finance provides strategic support for decision-making and prioritization for the Shopping org. which powers core Amazon customer experiences including Homepage, Detail Page, Search, Rufus, and Personalization. We collaborate across organizations, celebrate and leverage diverse perspectives, and support our peers to excel both at work and away from work.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
