Join a region that offers a lifestyle like no other – a safe, peaceful, beautiful, fulfilling life for you and your family.Position OverviewReporting to the Director – Financial Planning, the Financial Analyst is a member of the Finance Leadership Team and oversees reporting provided to internal programs and external organizations. The incumbent is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of budgets, monthly financial and statistical reports, and assists with variance analysis and analytical review with site and program managers. Commitment to proactive issue resolution, and adherence to deadlines and support are key components of the position.The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting or similar financial duties.
  • Prior experience with computerized accounting systems.
  • Prior experience with finance and budgeting.
  • Prior experience in health care setting would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • May be required to take Accounting-related courses.
  • Leadership training or experience with coordinating, teaching and directing work of others.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Presently enrolled or pursuing a CPA (Canada) designation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity tools, including Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively analyze financial and statistical information.
  • Ability to supervise and lead staff, including coordinating, teaching or directing activities.
  • Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level Excel skills.
  • Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
