Green Jobs Project Internship

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to work with us fulltime for the Jordan Country Office Team in support of the ” Creating Sustainable Green Jobs for Refugees and Host Communities through the Green Economy in Jordan” project (JO11) funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The project aims to stimulate the creation of green jobs, particularly for Jordanian and refugee women and youth. GGGI is working in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to deliver the project during the period 2023-2026. The Ministry of Labor, as well as the local governments of four municipalities (Amman, Mafraq, Irbid, and Zarqa), are key implementation partners. The project focuses on increasing the green employability of job seekers and supporting the creation of innovative sustainable environmental businesses. The project leverages Jordan’s growing entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem to enhance access to green jobs and to environmental services. It is rolling out a comprehensive green employment skill training program and green business incubation and acceleration program, with anticipated long-term impacts on innovation, green enterprise development, and green job creation.

The Intern will gain experience in project implementation as well as monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes within an international organization. The intern will support the team in collecting data, coordinating interviews, and providing other project-related support. More specifically, the assignment will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in monitoring visits to project sites and meetings.
  • Provide logistical support for organizing MEL-related events and stakeholder consultations.
  • Coordinate focus group discussions (FGD)s and key information interviews (KIIs) with stakeholders and beneficiaries with the project’s team.
  • Provide translation support and draft interview scripts between English and Arabic during FGDs and KIIs.
  • Conduct telephone surveys with project stakeholders and beneficiaries as needed.
  • Assist in preparing FGDs and KIIs reports with clear and concise narratives with summaries, infographics, and PPT presentations.
  • Assist in the creation of dashboards and visualizations to present project findings.
  • Engage with various stakeholders and government officials to support day-to-day activities monitoring, communication, and coordination.
  • Provide additional support to the project team as required.

Eligibility:                                

  • Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.

Qualifications:

  • Academic background in statistics, environmental policy, sustainable development, public policy, international studies, economics, business, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn various topics of sustainable development and MEL-related activities.
  • Excellent English communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth or international topics in a professional context.
  • Proficiency in both English and Arabic.
  • Proven computer literacy in standard office software applications, standard Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds and time zones.
