General Description:
We are looking for a safety conscious Landfill Supervisor to join the team at our Ottawa Landfill.
Shifts Monday to Friday
Address: 3354 Navan Rd, Ottawa, ON K4B 1H9
Responsibilities:
Overseeing personnel needs of the site, includes selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees as well as evaluating employee performance.
Scheduling employees and equipment / help manage labour crew
Operating various pieces of heavy equipment.
Maintain and monitor gas wells and assist with necessary expansions and construction.
Daily landfill site inspections.
Daily conversations with landfill field personnel.
Daily input with maintenance department on scheduling of equipment services and cost-effective savings.
Daily employee safety conversations
Site customer safety plans
Assists in monitoring budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.
Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with the company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.
Formulate both short- and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the District Manager and landfill management support team.
Learn all aspects of Landfill operations
Organize safety meetings
What We Need From You:
Diploma/degree in an engineering field or business management Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid Class 3 driver’s license (or higher) and compliance with all DOT regulations.
Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and MOE regulations.
Experience operating refuse collection equipment is an asset.
Strong data entry and analytical skills.
Union experience is an asset.
A SAFETY-FIRST mindset with a proactive approach to workplace safety.
Self-motivated with a strong ability to take initiative.
Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
