Job Title: Medical Assistant – OncologyJob DescriptionThe Medical Assistant is key to department success because these front-line team members create efficient flow and a welcoming atmosphere for our patients on a daily basis. This position is responsible for administrative and clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing treatment rooms, and assisting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Daily schedule management and timely documentation within the electronic health record creates smooth patient flow for the provider. MAs use critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to assure timely, professional, and compassionate care.Responsibilities
- Record patient’s medical history, vital statistics, clinical summary, and health maintenance.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination, keeping the rooms neat, clean, and stocked.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, height, allergies, and current medications.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the Physician.
- Give medically appropriate instructions to patients under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
- Upload documentation to EMR.
- Ensure all related patient information is in the electronic record prior to appointment.
- Prepare FMLA, prior authorizations, and disability paperwork.
- Coordinate outside care for patients for dialysis, SNFs, other outpatient infusion clinics, foster care homes, home health, and home infusion agencies under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
- Collaborate and work closely with other medical assistants and ancillary staff.
- Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following established standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments.
- Clean and sanitize patients’ rooms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2 years of MA experience (open to less experience if coming from a medical office)
- GED or HS Diploma
- Experience with Ionmed (preferred but not required)
Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes providing care in a clinical setting where the Medical Assistant must be comfortable with patients passing due to cancer. You will collaborate closely with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and other medical assistants. The position involves using EMR systems, primarily Ionmed, and preparing treatment rooms to maintain a clean and organized environment. Dress code is professional attire appropriate for a medical office. Benefits include 80 hours of PTO, 10 paid holidays, various health insurance plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, transportation benefits, and a 401(k) plan.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.54 – $29.48/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
