Job Title: NDES – Digital Specialist – Band N – Counter Terrorism Policing SO15Salary: The starting salary is £53,459, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.The salary is broken down as £50,531 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £55,103. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.Location: West BromptonRoleAs a digital specialist, you will be involved in providing technical support and expertise to the National Digital Exploitation Service (NDES), designing and creating bespoke software and/or integrating external solutions and scripts to assist in operations and strategic work.Scope (Tasks & Responsibilities)
- Provide a rapid response to national digital exploitation requirements
- Engage in longer term projects as required
- Integration of new services, infrastructure or applications
- Tactical development of scripts/solutions
- Tactical development of hardware exploits
- Analysis of new and emerging technologies, devices, and user habits
- Analyse information, apply professional judgement and provide opinion, with rationale
- Keep abreast and up to date with relevant current affairs issues, technologies and subject matter requirements as required.
VettingThis post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. QualificationsEssentialHave or be expecting a 2:1 degree or above OR Post-graduate qualification.Desirable
- Degree in STEM subject
- Experience in one of software development, data science, cryptography and reverse engineering.
Technical/Subject Matter knowledge/experienceEssentialCompetence/knowledge in at least one of the following three groups:
- .NET (C#, .NET CORE), MVC Framework, Python, Bash scripting, JavaScript, Java
- Cloud Service Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google)
- Database design, SQL / SQL Server, NoSQL technologies e.g. MongoDB, Elastic etc
DesirableKnowledge of one or more of the below:
- Agile software development
- Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Continuous integration
- Cryptography and cryptanalysis

- Reverse engineering
