The Opportunity:
If you have a passion for weather analysis, forecasting and communication, and wish to forecast for some of the areas with the most extreme weather in North America, then we would love to hear from you!
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Operational Meteorologist to join our Weather Operations Team, providing 24/7 meteorological and oceanographic services to terrestrial- and marine-based clients. Our Digital Environment Team has over 20 years of experience providing meteorological, climate and oceanographic services in North America and various international locations. We are weather, climate and marine experts, mitigating financial and safety risks for a range of clients whose high-stakes businesses are sensitive to impactful weather events or severe oceanic conditions. Our clients span multiple geographies and sectors, including transportation, energy, insurance, oil and gas, exploration, construction, media, education, asset management, and others. They have grown to trust our exceptional devotion and attention to their highly specific individual needs over the years.
We are excited to hire candidates into one of our main offices, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, ON or St. John’s, or one of WSP’s 106 Canadian offices. To get the best of both worlds, our team utilizes a hybrid model approach to work, with a mix of remote work and anchor office days. Due to the synergistic nature of our work and the social spirit that we foster, our group is well connected, interactive and collaborative. As an example, all internal and external calls and weather briefings are done on webcam if joining remotely. We are passionate about weather, have unparalleled team attitude, sport a growth mindset, and are fun to work with.
Although weather forecasting will be your primary responsibility and can constitute a career track on its own, we offer numerous other opportunities to get involved in and grow your career if you wish to broaden your expertise. These include but are not limited to seasonal and climate forecasting, climate risk assessment reports, research in various technical meteorology-related fields, programming and efficiencies development, remote and in-situ weather instrumentation support, business development, marketing, project management, offshore meteorology deployment, transportation sector solutions, space weather, AI, and others.
We never cease to grow and expand into new sectors and geographies, allowing for exciting new opportunities and career paths to constantly become available for our people.
