Summary

Position: Operations Technician

Location: 1 Highway East

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. Must have the ability to work a variety of shift schedules including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager of Operations, this experienced individual will:

  • Perform a in a variety of television control room functions to produce live and recorded programming

  • Operate and set up switchers, audio consoles, studio microphones, IFB’s, and other related equipment

  • Direct live and recorded productions as required

  • Edit video and create on-air graphics

  • Perform ENG Camera work as required

  • Work with Directors, Producers and Anchors and Control Room Staff

  • Interact professionally with program guests

  • Assist with the co-ordination of studio undertakings

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program or related television news experience

  • 1-2 years television production/broadcast experience, including working knowledge of production and studio procedures and equipment

  • Excellent and proven organizational skills and the ability to handle the high pressure and demands of live television production including meeting deadlines while maintaining focus, perspective and effectively dealing with the unexpected nature of live broadcasting

  • Excellent time management, computer and communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability and willingness to train in other job functions within Operations

  • A valid Class 5 or equivalent driver’s license is required

Work Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)
