hiringnearme.org

Roche fosters diversity, equity and inclusion, representing the communities we serve. When dealing with healthcare on a global scale, diversity is an essential ingredient to success. We believe that inclusion is key to understanding people’s varied healthcare needs. Together, we embrace individuality and share a passion for exceptional care. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

The PCOR team supports development and commercialization of molecules at Roche by implementing strategies to measure how patients feel and/or function during the course of treatment. Through the collection of clinical outcomes assessments (COAs) such as patient reported outcomes (PROs), clinician-reported outcome (ClinRO), observer-reported outcome (ObsRO), and performance outcome (PerfO) measures, we work to capture the patient experience to better understand patients’ perspective of treatment, preference, or disease burden. The patient viewpoint is increasingly important in drug approval and reimbursement decisions as health authorities, payers, patients, caregivers and healthcare providers seek additional evidence of treatment benefit.

About the position:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic graduate student to join the PCOR team for a 3-month summer internship assignment in the Welwyn Garden City office. Under the supervision of your PCOR Manager you will support research efforts to help bring new medicines to patients.

The PCOR team is looking for someone able to apply research skills in an internship that will involve creative thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills. This is an opportunity to “own it” and bring your experiences to Roche to help us further patient-centered outcomes research. You will be part of a dynamic team paving the way in patient research.

Day-to-day activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Research (e.g., literature searches, database reviews (e.g., clinicaltrials.gov) and pooling of concepts from internal market research, medical affairs, and disease area strategy team documents)
  • Documentation and strategy (e.g., context update, disease area strategies)
  • Preparation for and attendance/support with PCOR Scientist mentors (e.g., study management team meetings, clinical science team meetings)
  • Review and design of qualitative research
  • Review/analyze clinical trial data
  • Business critical documents (e.g., FDA/EMA documentation and filings)
  • System/Process improvements

In PCOR we partner cross-functionally with other departments such as regulatory, market access, health economics, biostatistics, clinical data management, clinical science, and clinical operations. You will have the opportunity to see first-hand how these diverse functions come together in a collaborative team environment to solve complex problems. You will develop the project management and technical skills necessary to support the PCOR team and will have the opportunity to put these skills into practice.

At the conclusion of the PCOR Internship you will be required to give a presentation to the department, sharing what you have learned about PCOR and the scientist role.

Essential requirements:

Applicants must currently be on a Master’s/PhD program within the UK in the areas of Life Sciences, Psychology (or related subject) and should be available for an online interview in January 2025.

This is an in-person internship so the successful candidate should be able to work from the Welwyn Garden City Office.

Application process:

Phase I:

  • CV
  • Video interview

Phase II:

  • Final online interview in January 2025
