Matlab Hospital was established by icddr,b in 1963 primarily to treat the diarrhoeal patients residing in Matlab and surrounding area. Now, it has grown into a regionally important diarrhoea treatment centre managing more than 50,000 patients a year. Besides this, Matlab Hospital provides maternal and child health (MCH) care to women of child bearing age and under five children residing in icddr,b service area. Engaged in the treatment of rural people with diarrhoeal diseases, malnutrition and pneumonia; Matlab Hospital is playing a vital role in improving the health outcomes for the most vulnerable. Matlab Hospital provides an infrastructure for a wide range of clinical research. It also plays a critical role in areas such as diarrhoeal disease surveillance and monitoring of antimicrobial resistance in rural settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Dispense drugs to the patients discharged from hospital and attend patients of Matlab staff clinic;
• Explain the use, route, direction of medication to the patients/Patient’s attendants;
• Create awareness among the patients about the side-effect of medication (if any);
• Dispense the right drug and quantity with appropriate forms in order to ensure proper dispensing of medicines.
• Ensure adequate stocks of medicines, appliances and hospital supplies and receive goods from Matlab central store;
• Carry on day to day inventory management;
• Perform periodic and annual physical verification of stock conducted by external Audit Firm to adhere to proper stock management;
• Prepare daily, monthly, yearly reports on inventory, drug consumption, expiry of medicine, breakage etc;
• Check quality of drugs and hospital supplies receiving from central store;
• Update supervisor on feedback of Patient/Patient’s attendants, staff’s feedback regarding the medicine brand, quality etc to ensure smooth functioning of pharmacy and increase customer satisfaction.

Required qualification and experience:

• H.S.C passed or equivalent with a Training in Pharmacy Dispensing under the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh;
• 3 years of relevant experience in any reputed organization/pharmacy;
• Candidate with diploma or higher degree in pharmacy would be given preference.
