Position description

The Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment as endowed Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. The department seeks candidates with expertise in international relations with a specialization of environmental politics. The Helen Houlahan Rigali endowed position provides an additional $5,000 annually in research funds for a maximum of six years. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than 20 faculty members and more than 650 majors and minors. We welcome applicants with research and teaching interests in international relations, focusing on environmental politics. The successful candidate is expected to carry out a strong research program, including the pursuit of external grants. The candidate will contribute to our undergraduate major and minor, our MA and PhD programs in Political Science, and our new MA program in International Affairs.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a PhD in Political Science or International Relations at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must demonstrate clear potential for excellence in research and teaching, obtaining external funding, and student mentorship. The candidate must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
