Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

Doctoral Degree (foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field in hand to the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experimental expertise with quantum photonics with 2D materials, quantum optics, spontaneous parametric down-conversion, nonlinear optics, micro-photoluminescence, photon-correlation measurement, and/or ultrafast dynamics is preferred.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Jie Gao (https://me.stonybrook.edu/people/faculty/Gao_Jie.php) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (https://me.stonybrook.edu/) . The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

● Conduct experiment and/or theoretical work in the research areas.

● Collect and analyze data.

● Write manuscripts for publications in scientific journals and prepare project reports.

● Maintain lab and lab equipment, ordering supplies as needed.

● Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
