Function:
A full-time laboratory post-doctoral fellowship position is available starting March 1, 2025. The fellowship will focus on advancing cardiac sarcoidosis research using cutting-edge models and methodologies, with particular emphasis on sex-specific effects, fibrosis, and arrhythmogenesis. The lab integrates expertise in stem cells, exosomes, and cardiac arrhythmias (davislab.ca).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and optimize sterile tissue culture techniques to grow and maintain cells.
  • Conduct molecular and cellular experiments, including flow cytometry, FISH, PCR, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Analyze and document data from electrocardiography, echocardiography, RNA sequencing, and histological analyses.
  • Maintain clear and accurate experimental records in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Develop protocols to ensure sterile and safe laboratory practices, especially for handling biohazards.
  • Assist in training new personnel in lab techniques and safety protocols.
  • Edit and contribute to scientific publications and grant applications.

Basic Requirements:

  • PhD or MD with demonstrated research experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and/or cardiac physiology.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry, PCR, and protein biochemistry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of rodent surgery, cardiac research models, and electrophysiological techniques is an asset.
