Professional Performer

Alethia is looking for performers with the following qualities:

• An individual who considers feminine blackness/Black womanhood as part of their identity. (Black meaning a person of African or Caribbean descent).
• A strong understanding of their own physicality through improvisation and set material.
• A strong sense of musicality and rhythm.
• Have familiarity with “contemporary dance” as a part of their physical vocabulary.
• Comfortable exploring movements and qualities stemming from various movement practices and dance styles.
• An openness in exploring alternative ways of working, considering better working practices and accessibility.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in the development of movement and themes.
• A strong interest in exploring autobiographical and collective narratives around identity and community.
• Experience in singing is desirable but not essential.
