The Parish Project Manager is a pivotal position that advances the parish’s mission through effective project management, overall planning and ensuring the strategic execution of key initiatives. Through their own faithful witness, they help drive initiatives in a way that is aligned with the directives of the parish and the Catholic church.
Responsibilities
- Organize, monitor, support and drive key initiatives and projects of the parish.
- Manage stewardship projects for the parish – the church and school – and ensure efficient and effective execution aligned with the parish’s mission and vision. An example might be project managing a major capital campaign or specific fund-raising events.
- Provide project management for the ministry and liturgy teams by collaborating on the development, management, and post-action reviews of key projects aimed at enhancing the spiritual life of the parish community. Examples might be project managing the implementation of a new ministry program, managing the execution of a parish-wide spiritual retreat, or overseeing the organization of parish events that foster community engagement and spiritual growth.
- Lead execution of parish surveys to gather valuable insights, enhance community engagement, and inform strategic decision-making. An example might be a parish-wide survey designed to gather feedback on potential new ministry initiatives or to gather input on parishioners’ priorities for facility improvements.
- Implement the strategic plan for both the church and school, ensuring that projects and initiatives are aligned with the overarching strategic direction of the parish. This could involve leading the execution of strategic initiatives such as modernizing parish communication channels or enhancing the technology infrastructure to support parish operations.
- Collaborate with the operations department to provide project management support that fosters efficient and effective project delivery across parish operations. An example might be overseeing the implementation of new operational processes that improve administrative efficiencies that support the parish’s mission.
- All other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years’ experience successfully leading and driving project management.
- The ideal candidate will have both experience managing projects in a management consulting environment with a focus on strategy and project optimization, and a track record of successful project delivery in a faith-based or community-oriented setting.
- Excellent team player with a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with clergy, staff, parish leaders and volunteers.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative, faithful, joyful witness, persistent, available, fair and balanced, and a highly dependable person.
- Sensitive to cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity and openness to the perspectives and needs of the parishioners.
- Ability to effectively deal with multiple projects at the same time.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, with sound judgment, and comfortable with change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – spoken and written.
- A practicing Catholic with an appreciation of Catholic teachings and a passion for integrating faith into project management practices.
- College degree preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
