Job Description Summary

The Research Specialist within Dr. Pierdon’s Disease Control Program will perform varied duties related to geospatial information systems (GIS). Using ESRI products to generate maps of swine and poultry outbreaks, update dashboard information and functionality to provide farmers access to maps. This is grant funded approved as a 2-year position. Position located in Kennett Square, No public transportation available.

Job Description

Collect data and maintain databases for research projects related to spatial epidemiology and disease outbreak risk. Participate in stakeholder meetings to integrate various perspectives into mapping strategies and GIS projects. Share information with farmers in the event of disease outbreaks in swine and poultry and provide just-in-time maps and reports to stakeholders. Researcher will be expected o use other software such as GeoDA and other available GIS products. Analysis of spatial data using R packages and other statistical software will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. This person should have basic Excel skills and the willingness to learn how to use LIMS.
