Senior Finance Manager – Global Market Finance for Lounge Business (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

The Business Finance Organization (BFO) Customer Propositions serves as a key business partner to Zalando’s propositions. Its primary goal is to empower the Business-to-Consumer leadership team with the insights needed to make well-informed decisions that foster long-term, profitable growth.

This role, part of Lounge Business Finance Organization, forms the key interface between Central Finance, Fashion Market Finance and the Lounge Commercial, Planning and Strategy teams.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager (all genders) who will support weekly commercial steering, long-term commercial planning and strategic projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the sustainable and profitable success of the Lounge Proposition across all markets.

In this position, you will contribute to its success by standardizing business processes, bringing performance reporting to the next level to deliver greater financial transparency, and building business cases to provide data driven recommendations for the business leaders. The scope of your work will be balanced between dedicated support of cross-market initiatives and global assignments (such as commercial profit contribution reporting and planning, overarching Business-to-Consumer commercial initiatives etc.).The candidate will bring strong financial and analytical skills combined with a great commercial understanding of the e-commerce marketplace business. The candidate will report to the BFO Lounge team Head with a dotted line to the Principal Manager of the Lounge BFO, while working closely with both the Lounge and Fashion functional teams.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• As part of Lounge weekly global commercial routine you support accurate short-term commercial steering by delivering high-quality weekly profitability outlooks. Enable decision-making by running simulations on commercial activations, offering insights into different investment options and their respective impacts.
• You will be responsible for preparing and presenting weekly and monthly forecasting reports, as well as quarterly profitability reports. A key focus will be on global performance, with detailed analysis of drivers at the market level. You will play a significant role in the Global performance review process, providing key support for senior management decision-making. Additionally, you will drive automation and improvements to deliver more actionable insights.
• You ensure alignment of targets and initiatives between local commercial/ functional teams and central Finance. Provide accurate financial projections and plan reviews to guide decision-making and facilitate a cohesive financial strategy across different teams to ensure a unified approach.
• You lead and participate in cross-market projects and business case development. Ensure thorough financial analysis to guide decision-making, striving for continuous improvement of financial tools for better and faster decision-making.
• You create detailed reports, track KPIs, and model solutions to derive actionable insights from data. You utilise your passion for data analysis to drive recommendations that support business objectives.
• You maintain a hands-on mindset, readily supporting your team with ad-hoc requests and addressing business cases from stakeholders of your market cluster and cross markets.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You hold a degree (Bachelor, Master, MBA) in Economics, Business Administration or any related field
• You come with 5+ years of experience in Finance, E-Commerce or in an analytical business role
• You have strong analytical skills, dive deep into numbers where needed while at the same time connect the dots and get exposure to the big picture
• You have great analytical skills to deliver a strong data-driven performance: You are an expert in MS Excel and Google Workspace. SAP, SQL and Tableau skills are a plus
• You are looking to work in a fast-paced environment between trading and finance
• You come with a proactive and curious mindset, hands on and eager to continuously learn and improve with an ability to solve problems quickly and in a structured manner
• You convince with your excellent communication skills and are comfortable to connect with stakeholders to understand business needs and to share your view to colleagues on the basis of concepts and facts
• You have an excellent command of verbal and written communication skills in English
