The Palestine mission is part of the Mashriq regional programme, which covers Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.

HI in 2023 has been implementing a mix of humanitarian and development projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The new conflict between Hamas and Israel in October 2023 has created a major humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Around 96,000 Palestinians have been injured (Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza) and several thousand among them have suffered from amputations or permanent impairments.

In Gaza, HI has launched some light rehabilitation activities in IDP shelters through trained community-based agents and has provided more than 1,000 people with assistive devices.

HI is planning to scale up substantially its response in the coming months, hiring more local physiotherapists, providing emergency rehabilitation also in homes, supporting hospitals and launching prosthetics and orthotics services.

Current sectors of activity are: physical rehabilitation, MHPSS, Humanitarian Mine Action, humanitarian logistics, education in emergencies, emergency preparedness, disability mainstreaming/inclusion in humanitarian action, advocacy.

The Senior Grants Officer will play a key role in strengthening our impact in Palestine.

Under the line management of the Country Director the Senior Grants Officer will be responsible for:

  • Assist in enhancing the quality of project design narratives and reporting
  • Facilitate the fundraising strategy and initiatives of the mission
  • Guarantee timely and high-quality reporting for donors in collaboration with those tasked with drafting the report
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual obligations to donors
  • Provide necessary support to the mission based on specific requirements

You will interact with :

  • Internally: Area Managers and their deputy, Project Managers, Technical officers, MEAL department, , Emergency operations officer (HQ),
  • Externally: Donors, local and international actors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in grant management and proposal writing, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural environments and engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
