Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityYou will help lead and mentor colleagues within the interior design team and work collaboratively with architectural teams, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and finishes, specifications, FFE and signage.Your Key ResponsibilitiesFor smaller projects on which interior design is the prime consultant, you may Manage projects and schedules by overseeing administrative aspects of the projects, including but not limited to: coordinating client and consultant contract negotiations, project set-up, invoicing, project planning, project staff schedulingWhen required, participate in development of the program and other pre-design effortsParticipate in workshop discussions and activities with clients to ascertain cultural and desired project outcomesOversee and lead teams in developing space planning, block planning, and adjacency diagrams in coordination with building programOversee and lead teams in developing the interior design, material palette and FFE through sketches, digital/BIM models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent and coordinate with Design ArchitectUnderstanding of BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their componentsParticipate in design critiques and pin-upsWork with outside consultants to coordinate drawings setsEnsure design complies with building codes, sustainability requirements such as LEED, AODA requirements, and accessibility guidelines as required per project typeEvaluate and select interior systems and materials, finishes and fixturesCoordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent and implementation of sustainable design principlesDevelop interior design in accordance with cost parameters and ensures interior design intent is maintained through documentation and constructionParticipates in value engineering and basic cost estimatingComplete FFE scope tasks from design and selection through bid, coordinating with specific client and project needsAdherence to Stantec’s required QA/QC process, including design reviewsAdherence to Stantec’s required internal and external project auditing processWhere required, participate in business development activities and project interviewsWhere required, lead project proposals and RFP responses, and support larger proposalsMentor and work collaboratively with colleaguesDemonstrate a commitment to the profession and the firmQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsThorough knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codesThorough understanding of all phases of architectural document production through construction administration and the relationship between drawings and specificationsAbility to participate in multiple projects and multiple teams simultaneouslyAbility to create project plans and schedulesAccountability to project profitabilityDemonstrates effective communication skills (verbal and written)Management of team deliverables with client expectations and requirementsAbility to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building programAbility to develop floor plans, elevations, and detailsAbility to check teams work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of document productionAbility to engage in creative and critical thoughtAbility to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
