Description:
The concept of landscape is an entry point for investigating the relationship between people and their environments. Through exploration in open media studio projects, written work, readings, and seminars, this course provides an opportunity to critically examine historic and contemporary artist practices around the complex and difficult positioning of landscape as a source of inspiration and as a vehicle of expression while questioning these definitions in relation to capitalism, empire, and colonialism.
Class Schedule:
Monday 9:00-12:00
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025
Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 20 students per section
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9,930.80; Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.76; Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications: MFA (or equivalent graduate degree) required with teaching experience. Strong exhibition history and currently exhibiting artist. Applicants will be asked to supply references.
Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
