Join a team that has the environment down to a science.**Your Opportunity**Nested within Stantec’s multiple disciplinary Human Environment team, our Socio-Economic team is looking for our new Socio-Economic practitioner. Our team specializes in socio-economic and community impact assessment, supporting reports, management plans, and monitoring plans. Our team collaborates on opportunities to apply a social lens to multi-disciplined projects including buildings and architecture, community planning, and social programming. The successful candidate will support our projects across various industries, contribute to exciting new proposals, and will also shape and mentor our rapidly expanding team.The ideal candidate has recent and substantial experience conducting socio-economic impact assessments within western Canada, has proven capacity as a leading team member, and has excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience and interest in health impact assessment, land use assessment, economic assessments, gender-based analysis plus (GBA ), and related social, economic or infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading community-research programs, household sample surveys, and key informant interviews. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary team, including our Indigenous Services team and Engagement team to identify innovative ways to understand potential project impacts under the constantly evolving regulatory environment.**Your Key Responsibilities**+ Prepare and defend socio-economic baseline studies and impact assessments+ Lead and participate in community-research programs involving workshops, focus groups and meetings, telephone and in-person interviews, and surveys (scalable to the size of project)+ Contribute to the development of socio-economic mitigation and enhancement measures+ Provide solution-based advice to team members and clients on socio-economic issues+ Manage budgets and work scope+ Mentorship and team building+ Proposal writing+ Client management, client communication and business development+ Technical writing and report preparation+ Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program**Qualifications****Your Capabilities and Credentials**+ Fluent understanding of Canadian and provincial environmental assessment guidelines, legislation and regulations+ Experience preparing environmental assessments for industrial, infrastructure, and resource development projects+ Familiarity with socio-economic related sub-disciplines (e.g. economic assessment, community infrastructure and services, land use, community health)+ Demonstrated technical writing skills+ Demonstrated experience in public and stakeholder engagement+ Experience mentoring team members through socio-economic assessment, report-writing, and related activities+ Thorough understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods+ Familiarity with analytical methods used to support socio-economic assessments, such as economic input-output modelling, GIS overlay analysis, health impact assessment, and gender-based analysis plus+ Willingness to travel for project work+ Strong interpersonal skills to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies+ Familiarity with statistical analysis packages and R programming/application (preferred) Experience undertaking engagement and/or socio-economic assessments of Indigenous communities (preferred)+ Experience preparing and defending community health assessments (preferred)**Education and Experience**University degree in Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Geography, resource Management, Planning, Environmental Health or related social or environmental sciences discipline.Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience conducting socio-economic assessments, environmental impact assessments, feasibility or needs assessments, gender-based analyses, community health assessments, social impact assessments or related activities.Must possess a valid driver’s license.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.   • Lower Mainland $92,600 – Lower Mainland $138,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
