DESCRIPTIONAt Amazon, the Recipient Experience (REX) team’s mission is to provide a transparent and flexible delivery experience that recipients love. REX owned properties (for example – Your Orders, Progress Tracker, Order Details, Product Owner Page, Order Confirmation email etc.) are highly visible and trafficked destinations for our end customers.This is a leader of leaders role and will lead the team of highly talented engineers / other managers on Transactional Notifications (TxN). TxN is a key platform under the Recipient Experience (REX) org that is responsible for sending Email, SMS and Push Notifications to all our customers globally for variety of use-cases (e.g. Order Confirmation email, Ship Confirmation email) across WW Ops. The TxN platform hosts hundreds of notifications and comprises of a dozen services with significantly high ambiguity, complexity and impact. This team also houses hundreds of teams from WW Ops working in away team capacity and is working on a a strategic initiative to overhaul and adopt federated architecture to make away teams autonomous to independently own their business logic.You will join a highly technical and entrepreneurial culture defining and building the next generation of software solution. You will own delivering a massive CX redesign across all REX properties and re-architecting our systems to be more modular and federated so that we can support heavy experimentations across our properties.A successful candidate will have an established track record building successful teams and developing complex distributed software systems, a keen technical aptitude, excellent project management skills, solid communication skills, and be driven to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You also thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a focus on hiring and developing leaders across multiple teams, have strong skills in analyzing and improving software development processes, and are highly customer focused and is passionate about solving real business problems. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and expect individuals and management alike to take a high degree of ownership for the product vision, and project delivery. This position involves driving regular communication with the leadership including directors, VPs, vision / strategy of the business. In addition, you will unblock teams and achieve cross team cohesive work environment, balancing business needs with technical constraints, and taking calculated risks to maximize business benefit. Responsibilities include management of the senior members of the software engineering team including managers and senior engineers, strategic planning, and building on an already productive and innovative software team. You will act as an experienced leader who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the integration life-cycle, including design, documentation, testing and operations.Key job responsibilities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS– 3+ years of engineering team management experience
– 7+ years of engineering experience
– 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
– Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
– Experience partnering with product or program management teamsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
