SDCOE is recruiting for one (1) full-time Special Education Teacher – Visual Impairments position for the NCCSE SELPA department with the Student Services & Programs division. The position provides instruction to students with a range of visual impairments within the SELPA in general education and/or special education settings (pull-out or push-in), including home or other natural environments per IFSPs/IEPs. The current vacancy at NCCSE SELPA will focus on children ages 3 to 21 and will participate in IEP planning meetings. The current vacancy does not require experience working with infants or participating in IFSP planning meetings. The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) is a multidistrict Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA) composed of fourteen school districts that have joined in a cooperative effort to provide a coordinated delivery of programs, services and assurances to over 16,000 students with special education needs residing within its local planning area. This position is full-time and will offer the certificated benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalSTRS state retirement system. This position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in visual impairment or graduate studies in visual impairment or other related field preferred and experience working with students from birth through twenty-one (21) is preferred. Must have experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team doing assessments, interpreting ophthalmological evaluations, writing intervention plans, and providing family/staff consultation.

Comments and Other Information
A stipend of $4,500, paid out after three (3) years of consecutive full-time service, shall be paid to unit members hired on or after July 1, 2018, who hold state certification and are employed as Speech Language Pathologists, Audiologists, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, or Visually-Impaired. The stipend will be paid out at the completion of the third instructional year.
This position is also eligible for Article XV: Salary, Section 2.C.5.B of the negotiated Agreement between SDCOE and SDCAE.
