Job Description
AECOM Canada is hiring a Structural Engineer in any major AECOM office.
Reporting to the Civil Engineering Department Head (Structural), the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and assisting in the direction of the Transmission and Distribution team for various projects, namely in the following capacities:
Roles and Responsibilities
-
Building and maintaining client relationships in order to define needs, present technical information, designs, and study results;

Assisting the project manager in the monitoring, coordination, development, and advancement of the production of deliverables by the design teams;
-
Selecting and optimizing transmission tower geometry according to client specifications and requirements;
-
Modelling, analyzing, and optimizing lattice and tubular transmission towers;
-
Designing transmission tower foundations;
-
Performing design calculations and ensuring that the plans follow the guidelines, code requirements, and other regulations;
-
Coordinating and supervising technicians and designers;
-
Travelling to project sites and supervising construction, where applicable;
-
Drawing up bids and proposals and possibly building client relationships.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural);
-
6 years’ experience with a minimum of 5 years in designing power lines and transmission tower foundations;
-
PEng or eligible
-
Proficiency in 3D design and modelling software (SolidWorks, Revit, Civil 3D);
-
Extensive knowledge of structural analysis software (SAFI, S-Frame) and PLS software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER) and ability to learn other software;

Experience in 161, 230, and 315-kV lines;
Preferred Qualifications:
-
10 years’ experience with a minimum of 5 years in designing power lines and transmission tower foundations.

Ideally, excellent French communication (spoken and written) skills.

- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,000.00 – $140,000.00.
