Tourism Group Sales Coordinator in Loveland, Colorado

Job Summary:

Promotes and sells Loveland as a convention and meetings destination. This position, within Economic Developments Visit Loveland division, is responsible for formulating and executing successful sales strategies to secure targeted room night revenue and economic impact goals for the destination. Serves as the liaison to our hotel and event space stakeholders, establishing a strong regional, national and international presence in the meetings industry, thus initiating direct economic impact by increasing room-night production for our area hotel partners. Work includes implementation of the newly adopted 2022 Strategic plan including management of all group sales focused programs, events, FAM tours, advertising, trade shows and conferences. This position also serves as the primary liaison for signature events.

Ability and willingness to travel, attend local, state, regional and national events on evenings and/or weekends.

The salary range for this position is $66,900.00- $90,400.00 per year with a hiring range of $66,900.00 – $78,600.00, depending on qualifications and experience.

This opportunity will be available to applicants until Monday, 3.31.25 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T.

Essential Functions:

  • Prospect and qualify group sales leads based on their ability to bring overnight business to Loveland.

  • Solicit meetings market by promoting Loveland through contact with association executives and corporate meeting planners on the local, regional and state level.

  • Research, develop, and implement creative comprehensive bid opportunities.

  • Using CVENT, Destination Colorado and Visit Loveland RFP process, create funnel for referrals to meetings and event partners.

  • Provide guidance to the team in managing key accounts through activities such as sales calls, site visits, tradeshow activity, and FAM trips.

  • Assist with the creation of promotional materials for the meetings market.

  • Create and oversee the Partners ambassadors’ program working with local groups, events, attractions, and hotel stakeholders to hold quarterly meetings to inform, educate and connect partners.

  • Serve as the liaison between local suppliers (i.e. hotels, caterers, attractions, transportation services etc.) and potential meeting and events group.

  • Conduct sales blitzes and public relations efforts necessary to stimulate interest in Visit Loveland as a resource for meetings and events planners.

  • Create and oversees Meetings and Events Planners Guide and online component for the website.

  • Produce a calendar of meetings and events bookings.

  • Lead and project manage strategic initiatives for the City including group, bus tours, destination and development of tourism packages.

  • Serve on boards and commissions.

  • Oversee prospecting of leads from non-traditional markets (SMERF) for business during Loveland’s shoulder season.

  • Participate in networking opportunities with meeting planners and association executives.

  • Develops and coordinates group-oriented familiarization tours.

  • Exhibit at Industry Trade Shows according to annual marketing plan.

  • Follow up on leads received from trade shows and other sources by sending/delivering requested information and assisting with special requests.

  • Develop and maintain a CRM Customer Relationship Management system for group sales

  • Develop reporting of key sales and event metrics and operational reporting and KPIs Key performance indicators.

  • Serve as liaison for all sponsored community and destination events.

  • Work with senior management to develop event sponsorship decks to sell to potential event partners.

  • Maintain membership in professional organizations relating to meetings (MPI, CSAE, LHA, etc.) as deemed appropriate by Visitors Services Manager.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Business Administration or related field required.

Experience:

  • 3 years e xperience in a role similar to, or related to, being an owner, officer or coordinator of a visitor services organization, destination management organization or visitors and convention bureau, chamber, hotel or economic development organization required. Must be in addition to any experience used to satisfy the education requirement.

An equivalent combination of education and or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis.

Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive industry experience and knowledge to this position including DMO and/or convention center experience, good understanding of food and beverage, events, and operations.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in one on one, small and large group settings and to effectively present information to top management and public groups.

  • Familiarity with standard industry reports and software models.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, team skills, and customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of best practices for sales strategies and tactics on both destination and convention center level.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, attend local, state, regional and national events on evenings and/or weekends.

  • Knowledge of Northern Colorado preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Frequent m inimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.

  • Frequent e xposure to routine office noise and equipment.

  • Occasional e xposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
