CBC New Brunswick is looking for an excellent journalist and visual storyteller.

This is how we describe our ideal candidate.

Your role

You love local news. You are a journalist who thrives in a deadline-driven, breaking news environment. You pitch original stories and relish the chance to tell stories of individuals making a difference in their community. Your professional and personal experiences have set you up to tell stories in an inclusive manner. You are comfortable shooting and editing your own material to produce packaged reports or to go live with the story. You love to try new ways of telling stories, and are equally comfortable talking to audiences through video content for all CBC platforms. You work well as part of a team and get satisfaction from group success and individual wins.

This is a temporary position until October 2025.

This position is based in Moncton.

This role requires full time on site presence.

Function:

  • As a Videojournalist, you will shoot and edit footage, write copy, and produce live or packaged reports for all CBC video platforms and programs.

Tasks:

  • Keep up with current events by consulting a variety of sources.

  • Forge and maintain contacts with various sources.

  • Propose and be assigned topics for news items, reports, interviews, and special features.Research, gather, evaluate and check all material on the story being covered.

  • Shoot, light, edit reports. Present them for broadcast.

  • Drive a news vehicle.

  • Be prepared to file for any CBC news platform.

  • Solid command of communication skills specific to the medium as well as interview techniques.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

A) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • Three (3) years experience in journalism or an equivalent experience in media production.

B) Competencies:

  • Awareness of what’s happening in the news in Canada and abroad.

  • Good knowledge of New Brunswick current events.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Ability to understand spoken and written French is an asset.

  • Knowledge of video and editing techniques.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Selected candidates may be subject to the following testing:

  • Assignment.

  • Interview.
